It’s been 3 weeks since my family went into self isolation. It has not been hard adapting to this new normal of avoiding crowds. I was already getting most of my groceries online so in a weird way, I feel like I was ready.
Home Delivery is the way to go…
The items I still have to go out to get are the fresh foods but with the Coronavirus spreading, I am no longer going out to Publix. Instead I use Instacart to get delivery from Publix or Prime Now to get delivery from Whole Foods. Prime Now is part of Amazon’s Prime program and if you do not have Amazon Prime, I got you a great offer: Try Amazon Prime for 30 days for $3!
Get long lasting produce

I try to build a menu around long lasting ingredients so we get our groceries delivered once every two weeks. This reduces our exposure to the outside world. My husband is now working from home so I can count on him to grill every other day. Our dinner is usually whatever animal protein plus grilled veggies with the occasional steamed or stir fry meal version.
Here’s my list of long lasting vegetables I’m stocking up on now:
- Potatoes
- Garlic
- Zucchini
- Cauliflower
- Onions
- Carrots
- Eggplants
- Broccoli
- Cucumbers
- Avocados
- Frozen edamame
- Frozen corn
All of the vegetables in my list will last you one week or more in the refrigerator. Other items like potatoes or Frozen edamame will last a month or more in the refrigerator/freezer
And here’s a list of the long lasting fruits I am shopping for now. They can last up to 2 months in the refrigerator. They are tasty and filling:
- Apples
- Lemons and limes
- Oranges
- Tangerines
- Pineapple
- Pomegranates
- Frozen Dark Cherries

Well friends that is it. This is my list of long lasting fruits and vegetables that I am getting delivered from the grocery stores right now. I choose them because they are in season which means available and usually on sale or BOGO plus they are good for you. During our fight against COVID19, we need to fuel our bodies with quality ingredients now more than ever. I hope my list helps you figuring out what to eat during this time of social distancing.
